While you go

1. Check when to apply visa, sometimes it requires early application
2. Enable international usage for your cards, you may also get a forex-card from your bank in a day's time to avoid additional charges
3. Some how debit card did not get additional charges while credit card has charges
4. Get some cash in foreign country to avoid deboarding (generally such detailsa re available over their website)
5. Get an understanding on how would you
1. Travel there
2. Make phone calls, and
3. Eat there
6. Keep receipts of all, better keep a photo of it as these days receipts' prints fade away

While you are there

1. Follow rules of the country
2. Be alert all the time

While you return

1. Disable international transactions for you cards
2. Convert all currency to native country currency or you can consume them well before exiting international airports
